Feb 16: Baby Shower

Had a busy day today -- it started with Boy Wonderful's cricket match, followed by a drive to Bunbury (via a Target store to get extra pillows to prop me up with in the back seat), a baby shower, an art exhibition opening and dinner at the favourite restaurant, White Elephant.
I'm kind of sad that I'm 39 and this is my second child, and yet this is the first baby shower I've ever been to. What has happened to the sisterhood that we are letting our sisters have babies without a celebration and a show of support?
Although this was a traditional "western" baby shower (where the mother is given baby stuff), I did manage to squeeze in a Blessingway activity (the "sacred" version of a baby shower)... I gave everyone a candle and asked them to light it when they got news that I was in labour, then PRAY LIKE THE CLAPPERS for baby's safe arrival!
Today I am thankful that every single friend there promised that yes, they would indeed light the candle and pray for our protection during labour.
