Feb 23: Doting Dad

"Being a father at 48 is as exciting as it was as 28," says my Gavstar, and I believe every word of it. Even though our Shining Star slept through her first night, her daddy kept a vigil by her crib just waiting for her to wake for a cuddle.

Today I am grateful for family birthing units in hospitals -- this enabled us to stay together as a family in these crucial first hours with baby. Boy Wonderful chose to continue his weekend of cricket commitments, so it was a safe, gentle and lovely time of hibernation and connection for Gavstar, baby and me.
