March 10: Milk Bar

When I first moved to WA seven years ago, I was very impressed with the number of delicatessans dotted around the place.
"Wow," I remember thinking, "the Wozzies must really love their cheese and cold cuts of meat!"
It wasn't until later that I realised that "delicatessan" is the Western Australian word for "corner store"... or as the Victorians call them, "milk bars".
For some reason, this anecdote came to me after opening our bar fridge (where I keep the Little Star's milk)... it strikes me as funny that the whole family is keeping their essential fluids in the one place.
Spent the day in bed after a dental operation left me unable to eat, drink, or even remember my own name. Funny then, how I was able to remember my experiences with discovering little idiosynchracies within my own country...
Today I am thankful the operation didn't leave me so incarcerated I couldn't fulfil my role as "cow" to the Little Star.
