April 7: Birth of an Avocado Tree

Although I failed the last time I tried growing an avocado tree from a pip, it is not deterring me from trying again. This morning I was lucky enough to find a pip that had already sprouted in my avocado... I didn't hesitate planting it in some famous Margaret River soil and not-so-famous chicken poop from our coop. When I lined the pot up under the kitchen window next to my aloe vera plants, I liked the mix of colours so took this photo.

Today I am thankful I'll be here for another three weeks to keep a daily vigil on this new baby.
