July 6 - 12

2008.07.06
July 6: Sunday brekky in Dunsborough proved difficult with the little miss learning that the colourful squishy stuff actually tastes pretty good!

July 7: Got sick of clothes and mess all over the bedroom so we had a major furniture move to facilitate better traffic flow. Hopefully now Gavstar has no excuse for not changing in the WIR.

July 8: I stepped outside to check on Gavstar's progress with the new pizza oven when I noticed a sprout. It's the avocado seed that I planted a couple of months ago.

July 9: While Gavstar began construction of the wood-fired pizza oven, I slaved celebrated the Italian culture in the kitchen by trying panacotta for the first time. It was pretty good!

July 10: Hard to believe that any day now, these bricks will form an oven.

July 11: While daddy slaves on the oven outside, and mummy slaves over the oven inside, the Little Star just kicks back and enjoys the show.

July 12: Rain, hail or more rain, Gavstar is committed to getting this oven built!

.
School holidays are officially on, so we have two weeks now to continue spending time at the farm. This extended stay is giving us the opportunity to start a long-held dream to build a wood-fire pizza oven...

This week I learned:

* Food is fun when it's squished between your fingers
* Sit in a bed for long enough and it will move as if by magic
* There is no "right" way to plant an avocado pip
* Sugar soothes the savage saw-holder
* Somewhere, somehow, someone is making odd-shaped bricks
* Kickin' back is fun!
* Keep the builder fed and he'll work 'til sundown
