August 17 - 23: Looking Ahead

2008.08.17
August 17: "Jack and Jill" came tumbling down the grassy knoll, and I nearly wet my pants laughing.

August 18: We turned the Little Star's car seat to face forward for today's trips around Perth, and wow she LOVED it!

August 19: We have a demolition date!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The house will be knocked down on 5 November -- quite an auspicious date considering it's Guy Fawkes Day ;-)

August 20: How to entertain a group of adults... NEARLY roll-over several times in a row and listen to them grunt and umph as moral support.

August 21: Something about this pose reminds me of Buzz singing and dancing on the moon...

August 22: Six-months old and the Little Miss is being a bit coy about her first tooth that I felt this morning while breast-feeding.

August 23: Gavstar taught me how to use the ride-on mower, but the yard was already so tidy I didn't see the point of being serious about it.

.
This week we celebrated the Little Star's 6-month birthday, her first jump in the jolly jumper, her first tooth, her first time facing forwards in the car seat and ALMOST her first roll-over.

Seeing her list of "firsts" makes my first effort on a ride-on mower seem a little pathetic really...

This week I learned things such as:

* Give kids a grassy knoll and it brings a whole new meaning to the Jack and Jill nursery rhyme;
* Babies stop being babies when they can look out of a car window;
* The definition of "hope" is experienced when applying an "Aliveline" (instead of a "deadline") to a years-old project;
* To experience joy, remember what it was like to roll over for the first time;
* Skipping is fun!
* Breast-feeding is not forever (although some days it may feel like it);
* Even innocent looking machines have an evil side.

Things I want to learn over this coming week:

* Find out what a knoll actually is.
