August 31 - Sept 6: Quiet Amongst the Chaos

2008.08.31
August 31: Met up with some Sydney friends at the zoo today. It was the first time I'd met their 18-month old. She was soooo cute as we asked her to sit next to the platypus and smile for the camera.

September 1: Traditionally a day that represents "new beginnings" for me, the first day of spring ended up being a doozy. My flight home was delayed by six hours (although they didn't tell us that from the start - we had to hang around the lounge hour after hour while being promised that boarding would happen within minutes. Ha!) Anyhoo, it all became too much for me and I had to join the Qantas Club. Shame huh? I had a sick sense of retribution when I sent the baggage handlers scrambling for my bags when I suggested that my breasts were about to explode if they didn't find my breast pump for me ;-)

Sept 2: If it weren't for a dozen emails landing in my inbox from marriage celebrant related software, stationary suppliers, magazines, online directories and associations, I wouldn't have realised that my years of study and the application process finally paid off... I'm now a registered marriage celebrant! YES!!!

Sept 3: It's thirsty work being a girl!

Sept 4: I'm a keynote speaker for the Conscious Living expo from tomorrow for the next four days. Spent the afternoon setting up my stand -- a job that I loathe. The Little Star joined me as my helper. Can you see her in the photo?

Sept 5: Thank Goddess (!) for my Goddess Playshop Facilitators, who came in and helped me (wo)man the stand.

Sept 6: I love love love running my Goddess Playshops, and today was no exception. Good thing I checked my kit bag before I ran my workshop though -- I didn't have any giveaways packed.

.
Why do I do this to myself?

This is the very question I asked as I landed back in Perth from a hectic weekend in Sydney, only to turn around and launch into the Conscious Living expo...

"Because I LOVE IT" was my answer ;-)

This week I learned such things as:

* Toddlers aren't just mucus monsters - they're adorable!
* It is not possible to drink the value of a Qantas club membership in one sitting;
* If it weren't for astute email-marketing companies I wouldn't have known I'd been approved to be a marriage celebrant in Australia!
* Being on the stage is thirsty work!
* I've been setting up expo stands for many years now, and I still hate it!
* Men have inner goddesses too ;-)
* Checking one's kit before a presentation is a priceless exercise.
