2008.11.02
Nov 2: Red Bull Air Race kicked off with a 747 flying low over the Swan River. Looked like a sluggish vintage tin can compared to the racing planes!

Nov 3: Spring is in the air, as is young love. We came across this couple on our walk home... he was picking her a flower from every garden they passed and presenting it to her with loving gestures. Boy Wonderful caught up to them, gave her a flower of his own, and joked with the guy to "lift his game". Thankfully they both had a sense of humour.

Nov 4: Had trouble finding a babysitter which meant I got to stay at home with the baby while Gavstar went to Ascot for the Melbourne Cup. We ate a nice lunch together, put on hats (the Little Star took hers off again), and watched the race on TV.

Nov 5: Boy Wonderful caught me reading a story (about me, ha ha) in the backyard. I didn't even make it inside to start reading it - it was such a good article ;-)

Nov 6: I had some urgent streams of consciousness to get through, so the Little Star came and helped me in my office today.

Nov 7: Like little sister, like big brother. Boy Wonderful has never been a "normal" sleeper, but this position I found him in this morning looked particularly uncomfortable. If I'd had a protractor I reckon his neck would have measured 45 degrees.

Nov 8: One of my newest, most favourite pleasures, is to swing in the late afternoon sun with my Little Star cooing on my lap.

.
For the first time in my adult life, I watched the Melbourne Cup sober. I also got a TV screen to myself which is a first in my entire life. I learned that the Cup isn't nearly as exciting without 60,000 people screaming in one's ear.
I learned other things this week too, such as:
* Red Bull racers make a 747 looks like a slug on valium;
* the most romantic gestures don't have to be expensive - they need only cost one's imagination;
* when a photographer says "show us those pearly whites," remember to tone it down;
* posture posture posture
* sleeping habits are in the DNA;
* as are hammock habits.
