April 22 - 26: A New Era & Rites of Passage

2009.04.22
April 22: Gavstar got the best birthday present ever... second to a windsock that I was supposed to give him had it not arrived LATE. Or not arrived at all, more accurately... he got to touch down on his new airstrip, which he enjoyed doing a few times in a row.

April 23: Today was one of those magical days where we had helpers galore and every single one of them found a job to do without having to ask how, where or why. It was such a productive day I even found time to paint a new sign for our farm gate. It was a very proud moment watching it get erected.

April 24: This is what the new garden bed that I built today looks like. It's going to be down to the wire to get it populated with plants in time for the party in two days time. It's on this patio, her knees grimy with grass cuttings and mud, that my Little Star took her first steps for her uncle David.

April 25: Yesterday my Little Star took her first steps. Today my Boy Wonderful had his first shave. Awwwwwww, my children are growing up!

April 26: The day we've all been working so hard for: the birthday party and naming ceremony. For the ceremony everyone wrote wishes for the Little Star onto paper then threw the wishes in with a flame tree being planted by Gran and Gramps. I really liked that we surrendered the wishes completely to the Universe to fulfil when the time is right.

---------------------

This week marked many first rites of passage:

* The Little Star took her first steps for her uncle David (aka the fairy godfather)

* Boy Wonderful shaved for the first time under the guidance of his uncle Neville

* Gavstar christened the new airstrip with a few touch-and-go maneuvers

* The Little Star FINALLY got her naming ceremony

* Gavstar turned the big five-oh

* Neville "got" my multi-layered-meanings I built into my wine o'clock clock

What a week of firsts!
