June 14 - 17: Star-studded fun in the Kimberleys
2009.06.14
June 14: Just one last run into the house to use the bathroom... this is what I found (and had completely forgotten about). A height chart for the Boy Wonderful comparing his height when we moved into this house in early 2002, and to when we moved out in early 2007. Brought tears to my eyes.

June 14: In know it's supposed to be just one photo per day for my little mission, but how could I go past this one? After drinking champagne on the deck of my beautiful house to fare it well, we raced to the plane to get back to Perth before sunset. Racing the sun the whole way provided lots of gorgeous photo opps.

June 15: Hurrah, hurrah, we're out of the cold and wet, and into 27-degree warmth in the Kimberleys. The Little Star came alive and skipped her way around the Lake Argyle village like she had been there all her life. In the evening, Gavstar and I sat outside our cabin and star-gazed - so amazing! I saw new constellations, and the milky way was so thick and creamy Gavstar came out with a joke: "they get full cream up here."

June 16: The only state Boy Wonderful hasn't been to is the Northern Territory. So just to tease him, we popped the Little Star a few inches over the border, took some photos, and laughed ourselves silly on our way back to Kununurra - his sister might only be 15 months old, but she's beat him at something.

June 17: The Kununurra tourist guide was sooooo annoyingly obtuse, it took us all day to find this: the Elephant Rock. The guide neglected to tell us to cross the river and drive 10km to get the best viewpoint. Tell me, does that look like an elephant to you?!

Gavstar and flew to Bunbury on Sunday to toast my home good-bye. The new owner moves in this week. Very bizarre. This is my home. My beloved home that I bought as a single mother for less $$ than my Sydney dog-box. Proves that a single mama can do anything she sets her mind to do, with or without maintenance!
So, one day I'm standing on a cold, rainy deck for a last hurrah at my beautiful house. The next, Gavstar, the Little Star and I are soaking up the heat in the far north of Western Australia.
