Sept 31 - Oct 4: The urge to chase sunshine

2009.10.01
Sept 31: At least the Little Star had fun - every time I packed something up she totally enjoyed pulling it all apart again. Especially the building blocks and pantry items.

Oct 1: This is what our farm life looks like packed into one room.

Oct 2: Back in Perth now, and back into my latest addiction: Fairyland on Facebook. Got a buzz this evening when I found a snail in a friend's garden has been named after me... is it a sign I visit too much? ha ha

Oct 3: Dragged myself out of bed to get Boy Wonderful to his first cricket match of the season. Gavstar is away for the week so all the taxi-ing and single mother-ing is up to me for a few days. On the bright side, we turned breakfast into a picnic on the still-wet lawn while watching BW take his first shots of the season.

Oct 4: After the cricket match I took the kids to the zoo. But feck it, the inner yearning to be wild and free was still not satisfied. So I packed them into the car with the dog and we hit the road. Spontaneous road trip - YEAHHHHHHHH. Headed north to Geraldton where we stayed last night, while today we did something I haven't done for ages - watched the sun sink into the Indian Ocean.

-----------------------

It's a strange thing packing up a house... one finds little memories stashed away here and there, and is then faced with the decision to keep it or throw it? Generally my rule is, if I haven't used something for a year, or I'd forgotten I had it, then I toss it. Had a few of those decisions to make this week as we packed up the farm ready for a summer in Perth. The stress took its toll, however, and I found myself longing to hit the road and chase some sunshine.
