Horses and Skate Parks Don't Mix

This is one of those photos that I was talking about where I was concentrating on the feet.

Colors for the wood nymph shot.

Before I left Idaho, Alli and I went to the Fifth Street Skate Park to take some photos. When we arrived at the park, a friend of ours was there that we were not expecting to see. She didn't feel like trying to pose when others were around to see her, so we decided to take a walk in the woods.

Alli wears these yellow Merill (sp?) clogs all of the time and they kept filling up with snow, so every couple of seconds, she'd have to empty them out. We took a few photos but none worth sharing and made our way back to the park. Alli decided to play around on our friend Brad's skateboard and he showed her how it's done. I've never shot pictures of someone on a skateboard and it was fun to watch their feet.

At some point this old lady came riding up on a horse followed by a dog and her grandchildren. I was taking photos of the boys showing off on the ramps as Alli and Brad were skateboarding. This woman at one point allows her horse to lead her up the ramp to be by us. The sun was hot that day and the snow was melting, which in turn made the ramp very slippery. Sure enough, this horse slips and falls down, the old woman falling off. The horse kept trying to get up but kept crashing back to the ground. It's fear and struggling caused us to feel helpless. There was this giant horse in front of us and all we could do is stare. Eventually it made it's way up the ramp and stood twitching and frightened on how it was going to get back down. The old woman was able to help the horse safely back down the ramp to console it that, "everything was going to be alright." They didn't stay much longer after that and our night was to end shortly after.

But never would I ever have expected to see a horse in a skate park.
