Saturday night, we ventured out to an Absinthe (Assenzio) bar where I tried my first absinthe drink. They pour a shot in the glass and give you a fork,water, and 2 sugar cubes. You put the sugar in the absinthe and let it sit for a minute. After you take the sugar out, you lay the fork on top of the glass with the sugar on it. You take a lighter and light the sugar to let it carmelize. You spray water on the sugar to dissolve it into the glass and then pour the rest of the water to dilute it. The taste was licorice and was not "my cup of tea".
