Shooting in Fatima

2008.04.25

One of my first job when working on the commission by the Combat Poverty Agency was to take photographs of the cookery classes in one of the most 'problematic' neighborhoods in Dublin. First off, the taxi driver would not drive me in, so I walked, then the cookery classes did not happen as someone has been shot outside. The women I met there were amazing. The pictures are of them coming out to see what happened outside. Later on we had a cup of tea and one of the ladies said "It does not matter how hard we try, it never seem to be good enough".

caroleagle these disturb me and leave me feeling a bit squashed with the weight of a dark hopelessness. Powerful.

mclps Powerful post! What I learned from working in a poverty stricken area is that while you can not help everyone, you will reach and touch some - which is hopeful. Peace to you. :)
