Large cats are some of the most impressive animals, I think! SO majestic.... and so sad when they are in cages. Nice shadows in the last shot! I tried out your idea of the glass reflections a few days back (at a Robot store)... stop by if you get a chance.

well done. watching the colorful pics one must feel your pain and sorrow when you are zooming in the zoo :/)

No 5 is my favourite. Makes me think about an installation by K. Kozyra, http://www.culture.pl/en/culture/artykuly/os_kozyra_katarzyna. Beautiful image of an emperor with trees painted in the background. Like a still from a movie.

Well.. you definitely spoiled my appetite for a while (eat steak clip). I visit the zoo with my son frequently, and I am happy he does not ask too many questions (yet... he is two and a half). But I will definitely tell him the truth, only the truth when he begins to ask.

They cage them for our "enjoyment", if we refuse to enjoy, they cease to exist. Wonderful shots depicting the ridiculous nature of these exhibits. The tree limbs and fake rocks are meant to disguise the obvious green walls too small to hold even a human.

#1 is a cool shot. Amazing animals...I like the look in #3. Do you think he is bored with his meat coming in hunks instead of having to chase it down...

They are never happy in cages, no matter how well looked after they are. So sad when you think about it. They were never meant to be imprisoned; they can go stir crazy, which explains why they sometimes attack even their keepers ... Beautiful shots all, by the way. Many thanks for sharing this dramatic post.

I like how you composed your last shot. On another note, while I'm sure the custodians of the zoo had the best of intentions, I realised how insulting it must be to the leopard's intelligence to paint the walls to simulate a forest...
