Soviet Union was so neat, don't you think! (And look at your already rebellious nature, left hand utterly out of the perfect line...) :)

you seem to have touched a nerve there! on a non political stance, it thhink it is an endearing shot, what wonderfully burning eyes you have. I always thought Betty page was happy to do what she did though.

Clever, drawing a parallel to Betty Page. On a side note, one of my wifes friends has a similar picture of her shaking hands with Tito. Cult.

So charming with that expression on your face! And yes, uniform has very negative cultural connotations. Unfortunately, I am already the next generation who has not experienced that regime. I say unfortunately because I know nothing of the feelings of those who experienced all that. For me it's past which I can reach through the stories of others. And that's why your post is important. (For me, at least. :))

I remember this shot from the previous set. I was watching a documentary of some of the atrocities that occurred during the 90's in the former USSR states. Some of the images and stories I saw almost brought me to tears. This image is equally saddening. The reason being it is because you looked so innocent. When I look at the older set along with this shot, it reminds me of how devastating it must have been for all of the innocent children during that time. I could never understand fully.

YUGOSLAVIA.....a country that could have worked and should have, had it not been for a lot of sick old men (and some women too) coming back and poisoning the social atmosphere! Josip Broz Tito meant well, but he failed to position someone reliable to take his place, and he failed to foresee the dissolution of The Soviet Union and The Warsaw Pact. Though Yugoslavia was outside of the Pact and part of the Non-Aligned Movement, it served as an important meeting place between West and East. It's now way too late to talk about it being restored. The entire Balkan region is still one of the most dangerous tinderboxes of the world, and we must all help all the decent and kind Serbs, Croats, Bosnyaks, Kosovars, and others of the region understand that ULTIMATELY WE MUST LEARN TO BEHAVE AS ONE HUMAN FAMILY or else we will end up destroying each other and The World! Planet Earth faces very real threats from beyond, including meteors and inter-galactic viruses! In order to be able to insure the long-term survival of all life on Earth we must stop our narrow-minded ways and learn to unite for the common good! We can solve all Earthly nationalist problems, but ultimately only when we abandon nationalism in favor of Internationalism and Universalism! As for Dragana when she was a Pioneer: never forget the immense value to the fight against Fascism and Nazism that Tito and The Partisans of The Balkans played! And never let anyone forget the betrayal of those values for which they fought once a few of them lost their minds and did similar things to their fellow human beings! All sides did wrong, but most former-Yugoslavians really wanted nothing to do with any of it! Yugoslavia was an imperfect country, but still more perfect than many others! Tito made some serious mistakes in his life, but one cannot doubt his good intentions. The ones who managed to turn things into an unspeakable nightmare cannot speak for the future of the region. We can understand their fears but we can never accept their false solutions! Peace & Love to all humankind!
