It Was Easier To Say I Love You

2009.01.16
When We Were Kids (1994)

Today my dad sent me a text message asking me how am I. I did not answer. I did not ring my friend who had a baby 2 months ago since the day she went into the delivery. I did not ring Danijela since Christmas when she told me she's not feeling the best. I should have picked up the phone then and there. I did not. I think about them all the time, they're all safe and comfortable in my head but I am not picking up the phone. I do love them but I am not picking up the phone. And I do not understand why.

caroleagle I love this picture.
I get times like that and it builds and builds and gets harder and harder to pick up the phone. Some strange fear hiding. I don't understand it either. For me a day comes eventually when it's easy. I recommend (as always) EFT. X

caroleagle oh and also... whenever I stop smoking I can't speak on the phone for months

ppinho Like machinery, all our connections and friendships needs to be, frequently, maintained and, sometimes, even repaired! If you truly want to preserve those friends, you need to fill the empty spaces! It’s easy, but only if you truly want it! What you describe happens to me when I feel the need for more attention! Could be the same thing with you?!

ppinho Ohhh, i almost forgot what this photo remembers me:

"I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it..."
:)

lookagain I hear you - I'm a lot the same. That's why I'm a big fan of email - not as personal, I guess, but better than nothing. Think Pedro has some good advice though.

mariaps I know exactly what you're saying. I don't pick up the phone for so long, that sometimes, it's too late. I'm trying to work on it. But sometimes it takes a lot of energy, no?

krx72 ah as we develop and grow and learn and create we become infinitely more complex don't we. oh to carry forward our childlike freedoms alongside out grown up selves...

very moving post.

asiamack i believe you have to reply to your dad's SMS. think not so much of your feelings for him but more of his feelings for you. appreciate that and express it while the opportunity to do so is still there.
asiamack · 2009-01-17: 00:38
mijocus Lost many friends doing just that... First you don't feel like it, then it becomes too awkward and so on. But you can't just stop...
About the picture, well every man's dream :)
mijocus · 2009-01-17: 01:23
Pikapol not so long time ago I couldn't understand why people are doing this. later I found out that I'm doing exactly the same. like I don't have anything to say, like the small everyday things are too boring...and like I'm waiting for some "interesting" happening, to have something to say finally. I found these bad excuses and I know they are only bad excuses.
Pikapol · 2009-01-17: 04:07
Nellinka You are still not late!!
Photos can also help. ;)

MeusCorpus and I thought I was some kind of unique weirdo for being like that!
I think that this year I will try to phone people randomly when they come into my head.
MeusCorpus · 2009-01-17: 04:52
DancingDolphin Interesting post... I like the photo. My opinion: Remember the world isn't only about you. Some things you do for other people, then find it was for yourself as well.

TheCrazyCroat Sorry you are feeling this way.

Please call your Dad. Mine passed away almost a year ago. What I wouldn't give to hear his voice one more time over the phone. Life is short and we never know when are last words will be spoken or not to someone.
TheCrazyCroat · 2009-01-17: 10:24
burbulz it happens. strange - then you feel isolated and guilty at the same time. although you know that nobody else but you created this situation.
hope your friends (and family) will be persistent enough - and one day you will pick up the phone.

makaid Interesting. Maybe you are too afraid of bad news? You want to keep people in your memory as you would like.
