The Story of 'destill[ed]', London, UK

2009.01.22
Got up at 9.30 and went to Reuters with Gina for an interview. Monkeyed around their offices dressed like two call girls (we were going straight to the show afterwards). Took some tourist pictures with the camera that annoys the crap out of me. I really should got a disposable cameras.

13.00 Tate Modern where we found Scarlett Johansson african twin. We also found the book "25 Under 25: Up-and-Coming American Photographers" where Gina's work is published. Also agreed 5 year deadline to get our work up there. Ambitious and bit embarrassing I know, but you have to aim at something.

18.00 - 21.00 At the show and at the dinner later on. Around 19.00 I went "Oh my God, I already drunk 4 beers" ... slowed down afterwards. Did not smoke, partially because Gina was keeping a close eye on me and sniffing my fingers every 10 minutes.

0.00 Met Roger in the train, stayed with lovely Aaron and Sarah in Chiswick

21.01.2008. In the morning got the news that my favorite camera was smashed without repair. Cried like a baby. Stupid I know, its only an object. To me it was an extension of my eye, mind and my hand. The trip home was a difficult one. When I got there ... I discovered that the camera is in perfect condition. I was fit to kill, but then I remembered that nothing is really wrong. So ...

I think that James, Carol's son did much better job using Robert's camera. Here's the link.

makaid Congrats! I am sure it was a hit.I check the Reuters photos every day. I hope one day to see you pictures there.

Don't tell me your Rolleiflex is damaged... :(

DancingDolphin Interesting to see your shots AND the ones on Robert's blog... his are a great recording of events and yours are a great grouping of artistic impressions, such totally different posts and both really fun to see! And when you meet your goal (which you will) we'll all say we "knew you when"... :)

krx72 sounds like a great day all told. saw robert's post too. jealous here that the tube doesn't quite come this far... (love london, love the tate modern, would have loved to see this show)

i like your collaging as a way to tell the evening story in the five allowable images - gives it great energy.

i will keep my eyes peeled at the tate m. on my annual london jaunts, one of these days a dragana original will be there, one of these days... (and likely taken with your NOT smashed favourite camera, phew!!!)

jenjung that's good that your camera is ok - I don't think it's embarrassing that you were so upset, i mean, it's important to you and what you enjoy doing
