10/365 people, kebabs and kimonos, fireworks and more people

This is a season for what the Japanese call 'hanabi' meaning fireworks. People jostle for good spots as displays take place all across Tokyo. If you don't like if you don't like the idea of being crushed to death by people wearing yukatas (summer kimonos) then this a time to stay home to at home with a set of headphones and a good book.

It also also a time when traditional meets modern, and and there is nothing more modern (and less Japanese) than a doner kebab!
