I spent the weekend with my girlfriend at her aunt and uncle's place in Kamloops, BC. It's a bit of a trek there from our Island home - a 1.5 hour ferry ride and then about a 4-5 hour drive. Well worth the drive,
I'd never been there before. Nice town and the weather was great. Didn't really get out much for shooting purposes, but went on a nice hike one day.
The tree you see is one infested and killed by pine beetles. These pests are devastating the forests of British Columbia, due to a lack of really cold winters that used to kill them off. Their population has exploded in recent years and it's only getting worse. It's really sad to look out and see all the red, dead trees.

The doggie pictures are from my Dad's house in Surrey. We stopped in there on Monday on the way back from Kamloops before heading to the ferry. That's Nikita the border collie, and my sister's dog Cassie, the beagle. They're both so much fun to photograph, although it's difficult to get a clear shot of a squiggly, wiggly beagle puppy.
All in all a good trip and nice to get off the Island for a few days. Can't wait for summer!
