There are certain shots that you take great care and time over, and others that you just snap. This is one of the former. I probably hung around in the right spot with my camera on a mini tripod for what seemed like an eternity.
Trying to get this shot without someone wandering into frame prooved almost impossible, but finally I had a couple of seconds and a window of opportunity.
The day before I had visited the temple and shrine to Abraham Lincoln in Washington DC and spied this shot.
I was pleased with the result when I got home and reviewed it and it remains one of my faves from my trip to DC back in April 2006.
It literally is the view that the marble statue of Lincoln can see every day as he sits contemplating his achievements.
