View of Washington DC from the Old Post Office Tower

2008.03.24
Looking down onto the Hoover Building and the FBI

In the far distance is the Capitol Building housing the US Senate

The area in the centre of this picture is actually a design of the White House laid out onto a pedestrian area.

View of the Washington Monument

One of the best vantage points of Washinton DC is from the Old Post Office Tower.

Now converted into a museum and small little shopping mall, the Old Post Office Tower is still open albeit not as a Post Office anymore.

Again, another showery day had left the area wet below, but the clouds had begun to break and the available sun lit the area brightly.

At the top of the tower was an open area that was guarded by thick verticle wires to stop you falling. However, by manipulating them like thick strings on an instrument, I was able to slide the camera lens through and take some unobstructed shots. This was time consuming and frustrating, but ultimately rewarding.

Looking down on the area of the Hoover Building housing the FBI, across at the Washington Monument and down towards the Capitol Building, I could take in a number of historic and important sites.
