Yeoman Warder

Dating back to the reign of Edward IV (1461-83) the "Beefeaters" have long been a symbol of England and remain so today.
Visiting the Tower of London last year, I caught this shot looking down on "Traitors Gate" whilst a Yeoman Warder takes a group of toursits round the Tower grounds on a guided tour.
This tour is pretty much any tour that would be given to a visitor of the British Royal family. Originally, the monach would ask a Yeoman Warder to explain the history of the Tower of London to his guests and the basis of this remains today in the stories and tales told.
However, apart from the obvious "tour guides" that they have been relegated to - they have all served in the armed forces for no less than 22 years with honourable records and the existing detachment have seen active service in Northern Ireland, the Falklands War, Bosnia, the first and second Gulf conflicts and in Afghanistan.
