Kookaburra: Staring at the Sea

This rather stately bird is a "laughing kookaburra", or dacelo novaeguineae in its Latin name, perched on a fence post at Garie Beach in Royal National Park, south of Sydney. That's the South Pacific in the background. As their name suggests, kookaburras' singing sounds like laughing.
