Crater Moon Idaho

Click on me and you'll be able to read the text telling you about this place. The following photos in this case won't have any notes. But I tell you this, it was like ending up on a different planet arriving at this location.

An open fissure. The whole floor had cracks like this.

While driving back from the family reunion we took a different road back. This road went through a 75 square mile area they called Crater Moon. It really felt like you were out of this world and standing on a moon, or planet. Most of the area from Boise to Ashton resides on lava. Several of the rest stops had paths for you to follow to see the terrain. Over 1000 years ago lava burst forth throughout the plains via crevices and volcanos. After a 1000 years dirt/dust had drifted over allowing the shrubs to grow. Is sort of spooky when you think of what's underneath ya.
