Family Reunion

2008.07.02
Sunday, 2PM, people are starting to arrive. And it's getting hot, 92 in the shade.

These are the shelters offered at Rock Creek Girls camp, they were very nice. They were super insolated, even after a full day of 92 degrees, it was approx. 62 inside, and down right cold at night (when we left the windows open.)

Some more, they ad 7 of these, plus 2 others of a differnt style.

My mom just arrived, beat. :)

A real close and very special cousin on the right, Barb. sitting with her very nice and special daughter Ericka. :) we all sure came a long ways. She drove to this camp from St. Louis Mo. Long haul. :)

Wife enjoying the heat, attached to the lease of her pup. Whom is laying under a tree. *L*

We had 7 tables set up here for people, and one LONG one for the food. With the mosquitoes as bad as they were, we were pretty much trapped here. *L*

Mom resting with her crashed out dog. Yup she's asleep. *L*

Two more special relatives.

believe this or not, they are going through each bean, removing the bad ones before pretparing them for tonight. *L* These gals were something.

This was quite a spread when they were done, nope, this is NOT done. They served "Fish", "Bacon wrapped chicken", "Bison", "Bear", "Elk", and Deer. Along with a bunch of side dishes, and lots of fruit.

they also had an outdoor pool, was okay right here and now, but in the evening, it was impossible to get in the water before getting bit a dozen times with Mosquitos. Gee..............

Granddaughters Jas and Faith. :)

Aunt Gail presenting to my mom a birthday cake celebrating her 80th birthday. Mom is the oldest of the eleven boys and girls in the family. They claim mom is setting the prescidence for the rest. *S*

this is my Aunt gale, she is the ramrod of this group, but I guess she went overboard and had to surrender her water pistol. She's not happy. hahaha :)

Dennis, his wife Afkan, my wife Jean, and granddaughter Jasmine playing card games. :)

More games. :)

Can I join in?

After she surrendered her water pistol, she dawned her hat and returned for a talent show. Hmm, she didn't do one, oh well.

Barbara trying out the hula hoop, guess someone forgot to tell her "No arms alowed in hoop". *L* She gave it a try though, hard to believe she's 51, eh?

Look Barb, this is how it's done, you put the hoop here, and um, hey is the hoop down there somewhere? Now, lets see if I twist here the baby goes where?

This is my Aunt Neva, she's the swell mom of Barbara. Below she does her Cherokee Indian explanation, and she does it in style.

And it's Aunt Neva.

Aunt Laverne, the youngest sister of mom's. :) I think she's trying to get someone to wash the mosquito bite off her leg. :)

Besides the birthday cake, they presented mom with a book signed by every Lovette in her tribe. :)

Read the nametag... :)

Aunt marie, she sure worked hard to keep the food coming and sometimes prod someone to help. *L* She's sort of hot, busy here now, I better go.... :)

And it's goodbye to my favorite gal, it's been 15 years since our last get together, how many more now before the next? Only God knows.

We held our Family reunion in the Rock Camp located about 20 miles east of Ashton, ID. The turnout was not as large as we had hoped, over 175 family members were not able to attend due to either a job and/or gas prices. Never-the-less we had a good turnout thanks to some super ladies and men that were able to put it together. The A frame houses were a blessing in more ways then one, a, it saved setting up tents, they stayed cool all day even with it 90 degrees out, and there was no air conditoning there. If you wanted you were only 57 miles away from the National Yellowstone park, so that could be taken in on the same trip. The bad thing was that there were so many mosquitoes out, it was impossible to stick out the whole time we planned. I've lived in the midwest, south, and north, never ever have I saw a mess of them as bad as this. We cut the stay a day short (everyone did), and packed up and went home. On child there was so bit that his eyes swoll shut. But anyways, I got to meet a lot of great people I've not seen in a very long long time. Including one special cousin, Barb....... Hope all get to view this nad keep for future memories.
