Unesco World Heritage Site: Jewish cemetery in Třebíč

The cemetery has two parts, the first part from the 15th century and the second from the 19th. There are some 3,000 stones . The cemetery was in a trerrible condition until about 20 years ago students from the grammar school in Třebíč started to take care of it, it is hard to imagine how much hard work they put into it.....today it is listed as a World Heritage Site.

Wonderfuly presented of the uniquely preserved Jewish town remains the witness of coexistence of the Jews and the Christians, which ended by the Nazi holocaust during the World War II.

Thank you Marie! That must have been SO much work to clean the cemetery! 3 seems to be a memorial to a family that was murdered in Auschwitz. They were from the priestly family -- Kohanim -- as indicated by the hands in that position (used in the priestly blessing.) Avraham, the man buried in 26 was "dear and honored." The older ones are very hard to decipher, other than bits and pieces, especially from photographs.
