Christmas celebration begin on Christmas Eve in our country. Each family has its own rituals and traditions , which are mostly followed very strictly. The dinner has to be the same every year in most families too - fish soup and carp with potatoe salad. No one can leave the dinner table before the dinner is finished (a very strict rule in my house!) Leaving the table brigns very bad luck to the family ! A fish scale is placed under each plate . And after dinner little Jesus brings presents (no Santa Claus:)
Each family member places a little burning candle into a bowl of water.If the candles flloat together - the family will stick together....If one candle parts the other ones, that family member will go on a long journey.
We will stick together:)

Marie, what an absolutely wonderful tradition. Your photographs illustrate its magic and beauty. Carp in the United States are considered an unwanted fish. For me they are my favorite fish to catch. As a boy, my old Italian Grandmother would make me bring her home Carp when I fished in the river. Boy I hated cleaning them for her. Scales all over the place!!
