I consider myself a good cook. I love to cook and bake because in my mind this is the way to take care of my family. I cannot solve their problems for them, but - in good and bad times - good food on the table makes the world a little better. (This no doubt is inherited from my mom - her chicken soup made me to overcome many of my life challenges).
Yesterday I baked this chocolate sheet cake. After the first bite, my husband looked at me in astonishment: this is it! This is my mother´s icing!
The story behind this: my mother in law was an excellent cook, but she died many years ago. I never asked for the recipe for her wonderful icing and have tried many recipes since, but never succeeded...until yesterday.
I found my mother in law´s icing in the American Pioneer Woman blog.
