Ummmmm, The Public .

I went to the opening of this new "state of the art" interactive art gallery and overall creative space today.

As a Birmingham girl, firstly the location is pants - totally the wrong area, however, I am all for redeveloping an area and my gawd does West Bromwich need it. Secondly, it wasn't even finished, which was a huge disappointment as the hype of what this place is supposed to offer was immense - an interactive art experience, where the art you see within the gallery is personalised to yourself.

On a more positive note - when The Public is finished, I think it could be a fantastic place for the community and for all things creative within the West Midlands. However after the years of work and the shocking amount of money spent (there were loads of people there just to look at "what their taxes had paid for..."), I feel it may really need to offer a lot more to be able to sustain interest, you know, like some actual art...
