I live in a small town called Fiksdal in Norway. We are 470 citizens so we all no each other in different grades. I come here from Sweden 20 years ago. I come from Malmoe wich are ver way down south so very different nature and people. I learned some history from her to. Norway was under Sweden in many years. Sweden fought with England in the Napoleonic Wars and Norway/Denmark with France. They lost and Sweden”won” Norway. Between 1814-1905 Norway was in union with Sweden. In the Napoleonis Wars 15 young men from Fiksdal,Rekdal and Gjelstein who fight for there freedom and beliefs. 14 survived and 1 lost his life. The young man who lost his life was from Rekdal. This is neighbour towns.I dont know how many citizens there were in Fiksdal back then but I think 15 men was a big % of the population.
Tomorrow its Norway`s National Day.
My son will hold a speach over the Bauta stone that has the inscriptions of the names of those young men. The Bauta stands for all men that fight in wars for Norway.
I know he will make those men proud and his mum and dad to.
All countries have a right to their freedom and every man to.
