Tickey Creek 2007

2007.11.01
The parking lot at George's as folks show up for the 8:45 driver's meeting.

The leader for this tour - Glen M. as he is going over specifics for the trip to Greenville, Texas

Here we are lined up with other cars in front.

Ready to go. . . it was 46º at 9:00 am. I've got four layers on top, two hats and yes gloves. . . and no, we weren't cold! Thanks to Dane E. for the photo.

Many thanks again to Dane E. for a great photo. . . we were underway for a great weekend, seeking the ever elusive Tickey Creek.

This is the group coming across Lake Ray Hubbard with our Prez and Mrs. in the lead car in the photo. Notice the guy on the bicycle way back on the left. . . clocked at 22 mph, he passed us a couple of times. Thanks to Dane E. for the photo.

Same bridge, just a photo of Drew & William negotiating the turn.
Thanks to Dane E. for the photo.

Our first stop in Heath. Thanks to Jerry & Judy for the pitstop.

Nolan and Dave were thankful too. . . they didn't even have to go in the house to find a restroom!

Gary took advantage of a clean space to change out a tire before heading on towards Greenville.

One of many roadside stops during the weekend.

Oh No! At one of the stops David realized that the brake/gear lever was not working. . . we had no high gear. After a quick look he realized that the bolt that holds the shifter had broken.

Not wanting to break another bolt, Nolan produced a screwdriver from his kit and another friend had some copper wire. . . and here is the side-of-the-road fix. . . it lasted the rest of the weekend with no further problems. As a matter of fact, this was the only trouble we had all weekend.

I'm sorry to say that George didn't fare so well. He was loaded on the vulture wagon and hitched a ride to Greenville. Find out tomorrow how that turned out when this photo journal will continue.

The Lone Star T's have a fall tour every year - named Tickey Creek. In the six years that we have been on the tour I have yet to see a Tickey Creek sign. . . but we search for it every time.

This was the maiden voyage for our 1916 Speedster. I'm hoping to add more photos to this journal as folks send them to me.

(Hint, Hint. . . )
