Friday morning, May 16th, members and friends of the Lone Star T's set out for Paris. Paris, Texas. Depending on various modes of transportation, the majority being Model T's the group was on the way to our first stop in Allen - according to the tour book.
Ten miles in to the trip "The Chevrolet" decided a weekend in Paris was not in her future. After some tinkering a wrecker was called and the rest of the group proceeded, according to plan to Anderson Elementary School. |
We received a warm welcome from students and teachers. Above the noise of the honking and commotion you could hear the squeals and comments from the kids, "Look at that black one, no look at the green one, no no, look at that race car, ooohhh look at the pretty red ones", and then, "WOW, it's an Avanlanche!"
After the kids checked out all the cars they were put back with their class, with each class being assigned to a car. They asked questions, which we answered and then we asked questions to see what they knew. This is Drew and William with a group.

Here's John with a group.
They were thrilled to be able to climb on the running boards and get a good look of the inside.
"What does that do?" "Where is the horn?" "Can we honk it?"
Here is David R. with his Coupe, being helped by Ted and Tommy.
Dave R., with his much need cup of joe kept the kids entertained, even after the rest of us were lining up to leave. They were in the back corner and hadn't noticed!
David H. answered all types of questions. . . including, "Can I go for a ride?" He answered, "Sure" - but was quickly corrected that "NO" would be the more appropriate answer. . . can you imagine trying to give rides to ALL the kids once one got one. . . not to mention the gasp from the teacher at the liability of the situation!
We left the school with the waves, good-byes, and thank yous and it was on to Princeton for morning break - according to the tour book. |
For those of you who wonder if there is really a Tickey Creek - here's the sign. . . we crossed on the way in to Princeton. Wonder if we will see it again this fall?
Pat Ferguson mis-read his tour book, he thought it said, "Princeton, Morning BreakDOWN"! And, he did a good job, actually parking the car in the parking lot. It was determined that it shouldn't be driven, much less started and she was loaded on the vulture wagon. She rode there the rest of the weekend. The good news, Pat got the best gas mileage all weekend!
During the break, in the McDonald's parking lot, this nifty Model A made a pass through the parking lot. Maybe to see if the Ferguson's needed a ride?
This is the first, "What The. . ." photo. . .
Robert took this one of David H. and Candy - What are they all smiles about? |
On the road again, it's off to Whitewright for lunch.
Check out the entry for May 22nd to see the next leg of our trip. |
