To Whitewright and Beyond!

2008.05.22
Mexican Food for lunch at Casa Vieja was YUMMY. It was well worth the long morning drive to eat here. We will have to come back here again!

After lunch this very "colorful" Model A was parked across from the restaurant. While the owner of this fine, one-of-a-kind auto was checking out all of our cars we all checked out the mighty fine features that he had added.

Please note the beer cans for hubcaps.

After lunch we were back on the road, headed for Bonham.

Along the way we picked up a writer for the East Texas eNews. He took pictures, had his article written and uploaded before the end of the day. There is a link to his story at the top of the Lone Star T's webpage at: www.lone-star-ts.com.

Here we have arrived at the Sam Rayburn Library.

Hugo and Alice, with Bill and Judy are entering the library.

According to the tour book there would be no gasoline available between Bonham and Paris, so we took the opportunity to top off the tanks at $3.67 a gallon!

The afternoon break, according to the tour book was Caddo National Grassland. As we were turning into the entrance, as you see it, Jimmy didn't read the tour book either - he had the second breakDOWN at the second break.

They pushed his car around the corner, into the shade and determined that he was having carburetor trouble. No, he did NOT run out of gas. . . that was not him and it's later in the trip!

The guys are working to put a new carb, provided by Glen M. who just happened to have one with him.

This was a nice break for most of us, not so much for the guys under the car. But, thanks to them we were back on the road and it was onto Paris.

This would be the second, "What The. . . " photo.

Jimmy, working on the underside of your car is a whole lot easier if you are turned over on your back and looking up. Just thought you might wanna know!

We arrived at the Hampton Inn at 6:50 Friday evening. . . almost ten ours after we had started in Dallas, WHEW!

After a light supper and some more visiting, it was off to our very comfortable rooms for a good night rest to be ready for the Saturday touring of Paris.
