2008 Pete Cobb Memorial Tour

2008.06.07
Part of the group met at Mitch's and then drove to the starting spot at I-30 and Bobtown Road in Garland.

As usual we drew quite a bit of attention at the Shell station while waiting for everyone to show up.

At 9:30 we had 13 T's ready to roll. First pit-stop - Seagoville.

The sky was getting quite dark during our pit-stop at What-A-Burger. With 20 miles into the day the majority of folks treated themselves to hot lemon pies - next stop, LUNCH!

It was very overcast and windy, which kept it from being hot. We got a few raindrops but no major downpours.

Behind us were blue skies!

We arrived to our lunch destination - EARLY. Thanks to the folks at the Rockett Cafe for opening the doors and letting us in. The burgers here are the best!

David was "steaming" when he pulled in. Nothing that water added to the radiator after lunch didn't cure. Three T's headed back to Dallas after lunch having enjoyed the morning stroll.

Beautiful shot of the blue sky and the country sign in Rockett, Texas. Now it's on to Hi-View Farm.

Meet Lorne. He and his wife own Hi-View Farm. They raise Corgi dogs, zebras, camels, mini-donkeys and have a variety of exotic pets. See the limb in Lorne's hand? That is to keep the swan in the water, and the amorous camels at a "limbs length".

Their exotic pets include ten adult lemurs and three babies. When we first arrived these guys were up in the rafters of the shed. Lorne gave us grapes to feed them.

Some preferred to watch while their friends were being fed.

Dan had the reach to get the grapes up to the observers.

When the lemurs got bored with the grapes, out came the bag of marshmallows - which proved to be the favorite treat.

I got to play tug-o-war with this guy over the bag of marshmallows, I'm proud to say I won!

We went up a flight of stairs to these cages which house a variety of parrots.

Including this beauty.

This poor guy had lost more feathers than what he had, but he was very curious of the crowd.

Here's some young camels relaxing in the front yard of the farm.

This shot is taken through the fence of a couple of the mini-donkeys. They are used with the camels in live nativity plays during the Christmas season.

Please continue to Sunday, June 8th for more of the Waxahachie trip.
