2009.01.02
Since we have had other dogs, Kirby has been staying awake and being more interested in house activities. Here he has found Sarge's bunny, which he adopted as a pillow, not a chew toy!

Once he realized I was taking pictures, the old head came up so he could show off his catch.

This is what Charlie and Sarge do with the bunny! So far it has stayed intact. . . I can't say as much for Sarge's reindeer though. It's in need of yet another reattachment of limb surgery. . . and then it will be put up to go home with Sarge when Megan gets back from her trip.

This was New Year's Morning. . . no they did not stay up late to ring in the new year. . . but they did get up early and had a good romp in the backyard - at 35º.

Thursday afternoon we decided it was time for a field trip, so the three of us loaded up the three dogs and went to the bike trail for a walk. We had taken Charlie and Sarge there last weekend to meet up with Charlie's foster mom. This is Sarge catching some wind.

We didn't let Sarge off the leash on the first trip, but we decided to take a chance to see what he would do. Megan had told us that she thought he would be fine and come back. . . Here he is, the "Regal Beagle" waiting for us to catch up.

We caught up with and then walked with Charlie's foster mom Debbie. She has two large dogs - Harley and Missy. Sarge was quite attached to Harley, but wasn't too sure about following him into this brush. After thinking about it, he decided to go. . .

This field was our turn around point. Kirby was completely worn out, so it was time to go back.

Here you can see that David picked Kirby up and started walking back with him. He didn't carry him very far and then Kirby walked the rest of the way back. He was one very tired, grumpy old dog by the time we got him home. Everyone slept well Thursday night!
