Thought I'd take today and introduce you to some of my Mom's previous danes. These are the dogs who stole my mommy's heart and made sure she'd be forever hooked on the breed.
Photo 1) Hootch - fawnequin male. Hootch was my mom's very first dane. They only had a very short time together - he passed away very unexpectedly at age 3 from Cardiomyopathy.
Photo 2) Mugsie - Harlequin male. Mugsie was a rescued puppy. He had many issues due to his horrific mistreatment by his breeders. He was also riddled with health problems. Sadly Mugsie went to the Bridge to join Hootch and the others.
Photo 3) Shelby (and my Mom)- Fawn female. Shelby was my mom's heart dog. Shelby passed away the same week I was born. My mom says that me and Shelby are very similar in a lot of ways. Mom still has a hard time talking about Shelby - it still hurts her alot. Shelby's life was claimed by cancer.
Photo 4) Group Photo - This picture is of my Mom, Shelby, Mugsie, Dozer (another rescued harlequin male) and Dexter (mixed breed). There is a gap in the photo next to my mom. She says that was where Hootch was meant to be. He died shortly before this photo was made.
Photo 5) Bailey - Bailey was a troubled rescue who became extremely attached to my mom. He had to be put to sleep when his aggression became too severe to manage. It was found that he had a brain tumor that caused his aggression. He's at peace now.
The other two photos are of two deaf rescue danes who my mom adored - Abby and Jaeger.
