looks like we got there on a "cheap day" :
*However the man who answers the phone at Barkly, who sell their petrol for a touch over $2.25, says they are not the most expensive petrol station in Australia.*

The task of finding Australia's most expensive petrol station begins just north of Adelaide, on the Stuart Highway. Finding prices quickly rising above $1.70 the further north the Herald goes, it's not until calling Marla, about 100 kilometres south of the border with the Northern Territory, that the $2 mark is broken.
Station owners are quick to send the Herald onward to a variety of outback stations in the Territory's remote north.
The Barkly Homestead, 210 kilometres east of Tennant Creek, is often referenced as the most expensive.
However the man who answers the phone at Barkly, who sell their petrol for a touch over $2.25, says they are not the most expensive petrol station in Australia.
