sophie had to cancel on the coffee....she's been sick to her stomach since the morning. let's hope she feels better. work has been boring too, and tomorrow doesn't look like it's going to be much better, the highlight of the day is going to the eye doctor at 11:30am.

in other news, UF won the championship game, which is pretty damn cool because this is the first football game that i've ever actually seen. i'm not big on american football, sorry!

now, i'm well aware that these cutlines are pretty weak, but keep in mind they were written at about 9:30pm on the evening of the 4th of july, and the final deadline for anything to be submitted was 10pm, so there wasn't much time to be articulate. it was just the facts, ma'am.

that's the thing, when you've got an event that runs late, such as fourth of july fireworks, by the time you get back to the newsroom, do your edits and write your cutlines, you're just about to miss the deadline...it's very high pressure. if you think about that for just a second, then you'll realize why some cutlines are weaker than others, especially on big news stories.

oh, and a cutline is the caption of the photo or graphic that explains what is going on or adds background information that can add to the impact of the image/graphic. A byline is who took it such as, "Ryan Pinto / Special to the News-Press" just in case you were wondering.
