Mystery Lake

2007.02.11

i took this panorama of four images in July of 2005 (!!) and i finally have the skill level that i needed to put them together.

no, i know that photoshop has a photomerge automation routine in it..but this one was really tough to get to blend automatically....so because of this a lot of it had to be done by hand, and i just didn't have the ability to do it and have it turn out how i wanted. (as in not like yesterday's lunch after i eat it)

~~~~
so if you're wondering where this bad boy was taken, it was in Chile, about 25 to 30 km southeast of a resort town called Pucon. My family went for a drive in the country and we came across this village of about 50 people, so we stopped to eat and afterwards went for a walk and came to this lake at the edge of town.
remember, that even though it was July up here in the northern hemisphere, it's the middle of winter down in the southern hemisphere. as a result you get the heavy cloud cover and low sun. this "sunset" was at about 3 in the afternoon if my memory serves me correctly!
places like this, my friends, is why i fell in love with South America and if i ever get the chance to go again...i won't hesitate one bit.
~~
also, this was taken on a Nikon Coolpix 4300, hahahaha! if that doesn't prove that it's not the equipment that makes the shot then i don't know what does!
this is the trip where i was taking photos on rocks by the shore of the Pacific Ocean in Valparaiso and a freighter sailed by kicking up major waves in its wake and completely soaking myself and my 5 day old D70 in salt water. just in case you were wondering why i was shooting with a point and shoot.
