Make Out, Not War was an anti-recruiting protest that was held on Valentines Day in front of a National Guard office about a block away from the University of Florida.
the whole idea was to block the place off by having couples stand outside of it and make out while other people blew kisses at the passing cars, and chanted with signs...the usual stuff.
it's too bad that it spiraled into a general "anti-war/anti-bush/anti-american imperialism" protest with no really clear message after maybe 20 minutes or so...but i mean, it's the thought that counts, right guys?
oh and did i mention that at the other end of the block there were about 20 hippies playing spin the bottle in between bouts of picketing? (no photos of that sorry!)
i guess the original idea was to pass out "counter-information" to potential new recruits before they enter the National Guard offices so that way they have both sides of the story (so to speak) about recruiting.

photo wise it was a bitch to shoot...really harsh light towards the end of the day and the buildings around this place were casting deep shadows that made getting a good overall shot hard. well, that and the auto focus on my poor D70 isn't what it used to be so a lot of the shots came off softer than a baby's bottom, but we do what we can you know?
BTW, one of my tags for this post is 'dirty dirty hippies' gotta love 'em! :)
