Wishing and Hoping

so it's pretty obvious that i want new gear if you've read any of my previous entries, and it should be obvious that i want a nikon D700. the trouble is that it costs about 2500$, which right now is a little out of my league.

now i just paid off my credit cards and am debt free, so quite a few people have told me to finance the new body so i can get shooting with it asap. In this economy however, i don't think it's entirely the best idea to do that and i'm currently saving a good part of my pay every two weeks towards this new body.

i should be able to get it in about five months.

the kicker is every time i talk to one of these people i'm reminded of just how badly i need new gear. my D70, julia, is pretty busted up and suffering from CHA errors left and right. not to mention it has been punted about a city block, thrown into an elecrical transformer box and subsequently electrocuted, and submerged in water all in the last six months!

i don't know what to do.

i just have to not give into the credit for a little bit longer until i get that new body...then audio gear (edirol r-09, shotgun mic, m-audio firewire preamp and protools), then a 17-35/2.8 and the new 50/1.4.

photojournalism is most definitely a labor of love. God knows we all deserve more money than we take home, but no one really does this to get rich now do they.
