"I ain't had no work in a month, that's why i'm here."
went to the naples beach saturday night to try and break in the new camera, and this guy from georgia was trying to surf in the waves.
apparently he's been couch-surfing around florida for the past month, bouncing from friend to friend and taking a generally pristine vacation.
he was pretty cool.
the best part was his board was from the owner of a music shop in Athens, Georgia, where he's from, that was a decoration the bought to come to florida. it's an authentic hand-made board from the 70s in Hawaii.
sorry for the lame post, he's got a good story and i'm completely spent and not doing him justice. sigh.
it wa weird because i wen out there to try my hand at artsy, abstract photos and first noticed that the surf was abnormally high.
I live on the west coast of Florida, and we barely get any waves. so either way, i'm waking towards this spot that i had in mind and saw this pretty interesting looking dude running into the surf with a vintage surf board.
i thought to shoot him, but i didn't want to bother with introducing myself and explaining that no, i'm not a reporter and i freelance and so on so i kept walking but soon sat down and started shooting him surfing.
he came back onto shore and we struck up a pretty sweet conversation.
