Mevlevi Whirling Dervishes
I took theese pics on saturday 8th of September during the white night of Rome. It was the 6 a.m. at the Gianicolo terrace, one of the most beautiful place in Rome where you can see one the best landscape of the entire city. The Derviches dance is not a simply show, it's a religious ritual in which every position of the body has a particular meaning. It is compared to books in which old men read the mistery of the ancient time and by dancing a Dervish can reach a religious ecstasy, a state of mind called "super-conscience" and the "communion with Allah". It has been very suggestive efforted by the sunrise and the absolute silence interrupted only by the ritual music.
A great experience!
