Exotic flora and fauna, McKee Botanical Garden, part 1

2008.09.28
A view of one of the lakes full of water lillies.

There are small lizards everywhere.

There's a lot of exotic-ness packed into the bud of a Queen Emma Lilly.

The Queen Emma Lilly starting to bloom.

The flower of one of the succulents.

Another blooming succulent. I wish I knew the names of them. I'll add them if I find out.

One of the many patches of lillies, one of the plants that this garden is famous for.

Desert rose

How did anyone think to create these anyway? Every one is completely different.

A dragon fly has a great vantage point.

It was raining most of the time I was there so the colors are vibrant.

The Queen Emma in full bloom. Note how the casing of the bud has been shed.

Another amazing creation full of texture.

These pictures were taken in Vero Beach, Florida at an 18 acre botanical garden preserved by the Indian River Land Trust when development threatened the property. It's now on the National Register of Historic Places and well worth a visit.
