A Walk in the Wildlife

2009.04.17
This is Magnolia Hill at the entry of the Morris Arboretum in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia.

At the marsh, the turtles take advantage of a sunny day.

A chickadee holds a seed still with his feet and pecks at it until it is gone, then flies off, gets another one and brings it back. I had hoped to get the chickadee next to an unfolding magnolia bloom, but he didn't cooperate.

A downy woodpecker lands on a limb containing lots of bugs worth munching.

A white throated sparrow finally positions himself where he can show off his wonderful colors. White throats spend the winter here and will leave soon.

A milkweed pod is backlit and catches some purpley hues.

Chipping sparrows are passing through. They are so small and shy, it's hard to get a good detailed photo of one.

The sun finally came out and I took a walk in the Morris Arboretum and Fairmount Park.
