Blizzard part 2

2010.02.11
pixel
Another view of the pond at Pastorius Park. I think this looks like a painting.
pixel
A junco in my yard. Later in the afternoon the fence was covered up by the snow.
pixel
I filled the feeders before the storm. The birds have been flocking to them. Here are three goldfinches eating sunflower chips.
pixel
Pearl and Gratey can't believe the storm is continuing so long. It's great entertainment for a cat!
pixel
I kept hearing tree limbs crack and went to investigate. My neighbor's white pine had several limbs that had broken off and fallen to the ground.
pixel
The squirrel baffles are covered with 18 inches of snow. The steel pole which supported six feeders bent at the base and was lying on the ground.
pixel
My front yard showing the path that was shoveled several times.
pixel
On the left are the yew bushes folded over and touching the ground. The snow has formed a huge cave under the bushes and the sparrows are safe and warm under the cover. The blue thing is the back of my chair.
pixel
The shadowed area in the middle is where my waterfall is (and it's still running!) A little bit of the stream is still visible if you can get high enough to look over the snow banks.
pixel
The second evening and the snow is still falling!
pixel
This is the Hynoki Cypress with its winter lights. It looks like a giant glowing creature.
pixel
View from the second floor window. The blobs on the right are the birdfeeders, the pond is in the middle and the "creature" is in the back.

Yesterday I posted part 1 which I like better than part 2. Click on 2/10 on the calendar to see it.

phillyart Hi, Janet! Here in Maryland we REALLY got slammed. Rob even called us to make sure we were all right. There were a lot of power outages. We lost ours for a little over an hour yesterday. Happily, that was the worst. The governor wants us all off the road. I'm happy to oblige!

astrobrojler Nice birds, but I like #4 the most – really hilarious scene :)

djnana Janet, thanks for asking to be friends - I think we have a lot in common with our photos! Following the gorgeous shots of the birds, #4 with the cats made me LOL! And I thought we had a lot of snow in Arkansas this year....wow! Hope you can dig out by May!
