Kitten Caturday

When she first came, Momma wouldn't let me reach in to get the kittens. It took her about a week before she would leave the entry way. This is a whole new world for a feral cat, but within a few days she let me pet her.

This is Narrow at two weeks old.
|
At two weeks old, the kittens nurse constantly. Momma is very patient, but she gets worn out.
|
After a feeding, Momma gets in the sink to get away from the kittens and they pile up for a nap.
|
Cosey wants to know what's going on in the bathroom where Momma and her kittens are staying.
|
Starry meows just as I take the photo. Her ears are still only part way up. I love her paws. She got her name because she stretchs out her paws like stars.

Wide is the first to get her portrait done, but she doesn't get the concept of sitting still and keeps walking towards me.
|
She finally sits still, but faces the wrong way. This view shows off her wide stripes (the reason for her name) and the small dot on her head which is a trace of the calico in her.

Since the rabbit sits still, Starry understands that she is meant to sit still too.

Princey doesn't get it and the rat keeps trying to explain.

Narrow is a little nervous about the whole idea of photos, but sits still while she ponders it.

Cosey watches while I photograph the kittens and since the "studio" is all set up, she wants a portrait done too.

Starry tumbles with her siblings in their carrying case which was their first home and a safe place.

Starry reads her favorite magazine.

As soon as I come into a room, the kittens gather at my feet and try to untie my shoes.
|
The kittens don't interact with their mother very often unless they are nursing. This is a rare moment of togetherness.
|
Starry was sleeping next to me. When I had to move, I noticed how relaxed she was so I put her down on her back and positioned her arms and legs. She slept right through it.

I put her arms over her head and she kept on sleeping.
|
Starry sleeps on Princey.

Narrow loves athletics.

Princey shows her underside while doing a twisting stretch.

Narrow likes wiffle ball too.

Starry at four weeks. Her ears have just about popped up all the way; just the ends have a little way to go.
|
Princey and Narrow are still looking for an indoor home. They live in Philadelphia. Do you know anyone looking for two great kittens who were raised underfoot?

I was asked if I knew anyone who could foster a feral cat who was about to have kittens, so I said "yes, I'll do it". The mother cat was taken to the vet and the next day she had four kittens. When they were five days old, momma and the kittens moved in to my house.

OMG they're ADORABLE!!! What a nice thing to do. Are you going to keep the mother cat? Gosh, I really want one, but I AM NOT ALLOWED ANY MORE CATS! (I'm trying to convince myself!) :)

I sure hope our new feral isn't pregers !! Wonderful set and what a great thing to do ! How's Cosey handling it ??
