Christmas Caturday
My friends and family decided we would not exchange gifts this year, but instead give to charities. Then I started thinking, what could I do special for someone. In a flash came the idea to adopt a homeless cat and promise a forever home for him/her. So I took off to search the area shelters to meet cats.
At the third place I stopped, Jenkintown Petsmart where Forgotten Cats has cats for adoption, I found a 7 month old, dilute calico who liked to play, had an instant purr, great personality and seemed confident enough to move into a multi-cat household. Her name was Fiona (not really a cat name, I thought). Her foster parent had done an excellent job, feeding her from a bottle when she was a tiny youngster without a mother and socializing her well.
I took an application home with me and continued looking, but none of the other cats caught my attention the same way. I slept on it and woke up thinking about her, so I went back with the filled in application. I was told I'd have to wait from 2 to 5 days to hear from the adoption person, Joan, who would call to interview me. I also found out that there were three other applications for her. That made me worry. I didn't want to be the loser.
The next day, thankfully, I got the call. After we talked for awhile, Joan asked me when I could pick her up! So, I packed up, left the office, grabbed my cat carrier and hurried over.
Fiona now has a cat name, Pearl, which comes from her Purr (which is instant) and her Growl (which happens when she sees the other cats or she is dragging her "prey").
