Really cool to watch it in action

From the Castle, looking back towards the mouth of Emerald Bay. The island with the Tea House perched on top, barely visible.

I love this shot, the entrance to Emerald Bay fading away.

Driving home later that afternoon, I stopped at one of the many vista points to shoot Emerald Bay from the roadside. Note the incredible emerald waters.

Another view from another vista point further on down the road, the rain was starting and the sky was getting dark. The cruise ship is a tiny dot in the distance.

The same boat we cruised on earlier that day, the M.S. Dixie II on it's afternoon cruise, taken from Highway 89 on the west side of Lake Tahoe, entering Emerald Bay California.

This is my favorite time of year. I love the weather, I love the Fall colors, I love the fact that anywhere you go is "off season" and you can enjoy pristine locales such as Lake Tahoe with virtually nobody in your way.

I spent last weekend at South Lake Tahoe with my girlfriend. I had always wanted to go out on one of those Mississippi River boats that traverse Lake Tahoe, cruising over to beautiful Emerald Bay. So we went on a 2 hour cruise. Not Gilligan's Island to be sure, but much much better!!

Emerald Bay is incredible, and aptly named. The waters are absolutely emerald green. And there is an incredible place there called Vikingsholm, with a teahouse perched atop the island. It's a landmark that is instantly recognizable to many, and photographed by thousands.

Next visit I'm parking my car & hiking around the Castle. I'll be sure to post that adventure!
